Shirley Sellars
Shirley was eight years old when she was given a Box Brownie camera, and she has been a keen photographer ever since, which has led her to canvas and painting.
Shirley is a self-taught artist and has certainly completed the 10,000 hours required to become an expert in her field.
Shirley held a solo exhibition called “Southern Panoramas” in 1996 at Southland Building Society which was in Spey St, Invercargill.
Her work has been accepted for the ILT Art Awards run by Southland Art Society on several occasions, where she has won Awards and People's Choice, equally also in the Southern Pastel Artists exhibitions, of which she is a member.
Also, as a member of PANZ, she was invited to demonstrate Pan Pastels as their Dunedin Convention. Pan Pastels were a relatively new medium in New Zealand at that time.
Shirley has been a guest artist at Te Anau and has also exhibited in Riversdale, Waikawa, Arrowtown exhibtions. She has had her work accepted in art outlets in Queen town and Arrowtown.
For several years, having a BnB business, Shirley sold her art to guests form Singapore, England, Germany, America, Australia and Iran.
