RED
ARTIST BIO
RED has been raised with a mother who was a painter in Dunedin and in Christchurch; and the whole family have become art buyers, and supporters of the arts wherever they find themselves living. Her father dabbled in quirky sculptures over the years, but was not a dedicated artist until he decided to start bone carving, which he was quite good at!
RED is quite diverse in her style of art, but mostly would describe herself as an abstract expressionist in mixed media, who ventures into landscapes occasionally. Many of her artworks have a connection to her faith, so are symbolic of concepts and visions she has experienced over her thirty plus years as a Christian.
RED uses mediums such as oil paint, acrylic paint, enamel paints and will mix all three in one painting, including adding sand or pebbles, and even found objects at times. She loves texture in artworks, so is always looking at ways to express herself in 3D.
RED lives in Invercargill with her husband who also dabbles in painting when he has time.
