Margaret McDonald is a local watercolour artist, who has taken regular classes over the years to develop her particular style.
"Our family moved to Invercargill 50 years ago and I worked full-time as an Office Manager, enjoyed golf, bridge, table tennis and New Zealand walks. After retirement I travelled through Europe and Asia and visited relatives in Scotland
During Covid I knew I needed another interest to keep me busy, especially during days at home when the weather made gardening impossible, and decided to try Art. I attended the Southland Education WEA Drawing and Watercolour Painting Classes with Tutor Gina van Wichen for two years then with Tutor Roger Thomson more recently. So fortunate to have two excellent teachers.
I love every minute I paint and will continue to attend classes where I enjoy the company of other friendly students."
As Margaret has been a great traveller, there are a variety of scenes not only from Invercargill and throughout New Zealand but also there are, in her smaller works, scenes of overseas destinations.
